Staying at Barandaz Lodge was the best place for us in Iran. Mr. Mohsen is really nice dude and he made us feel like at home in the middle of the desert. The guesthouse is in the oasis and the sand dunes are 50 meters away. Rooms are nice and clean and the atmosphere of the place is so relaxed. Food was the best we had in Iran, it's all local from the Mesr village. We took an awesome two days desert tour with Adventure Iran and that was really special experience. On our next trip to Iran we are definitely spend a few days at Barandaz again.

Nice people, lovely place, very good food! A place should not miss in Iran!

everyone in the family are so nice, we felt home when we stay there. we love the foods so much, it's the best food we had during our stay in Iran. We had the desert safari, so exciting! In the middle of the dessert, the most quiet and beautiful sunset, and a cup of hot tea&biscuit. We were so happy and relax in the tirp! A place should not miss in Iran!

I Love the place and the people

I have been there for many times. The Nature, the landscape, people and specially Tabatabaei family make me to visit there whenever possible. In the middle of central desert of Iran and just at the border of sands territory a very small village named Farahzad is located. There is an old house belongs to Tabatabaei Family which you will never forget it after the first visit.
The pure kindness of family members, the atmosphere of the house and all the daily life events tell you to stay more. Beside that there are many things to do; during the night time having an astronomy activity, seating beside the fire and talking to other people while having tea and baked potato could be your choices.
During the day time walking in the desert, camel riding, visiting some places around the village, safari tours ... would be good choices. Meals are prepared by the host and very delicious foods would be served.

Very nice desert guesthouse

We stayed here for three nights and loved the home made food, the hiking tour with camping we took and the atmosphere of the place and its surroundings.

The guesthouse could be cleaner. Also, the tour in the desert was rather expensive for Iranian standards.

Not so good lunch

RClimieMelbourne, Australia 28 October 2015
We recently visited Barandaz lodge whilst staying next door at Teeda Hotel as we had heard the food was great here. To be honest, it wasn't! We arrived when they told us to be there for lunch & they had completely forgotten we were coming. They then served us a very average lunch (one dish, rice & pickles) & charged us nearly $20 Australian. The food at our hotel Teeda was much better!

Einzigartig.

Superb, welcoming and unforgettable!

Barandaz Lodge is a place not to miss in Iran. The team is warm and hospitable. The food is amazing. We went for jeep safari on the dunes to watch the sunset and loved it so much that we decided to take the sunrise one as well. The biggest surprise was a huge professional telescope which is available for a small charge! This short stay at Barandaz Lodge will forever remain a top memory from Iran.

The most stunning place in Iran

Olivier w 25 September 2015
The Barandaz Lodge is beautifully situated in the Dasht-e-Kavir desert. Its rooms are basic but wonderful and the courtyard is a great place to eat, read or just relax in general. The reason to visit this place however is the stunning desert surrounding it. Its sand dunes provide the most beautiful place I have ever had the privilege to see a sunset and rise. Also have I never seen so many stars at night. The food, which is produced locally, is delicious. From the tiny village of Mesr, located about 1km away from Farahzad, there are many tours you can do like watch sunset in the desert, stargaze or ride a camel and sleep in the desert.

If you want to get there you should take a bus to Khur from either Esfahan or Yazd, and take a taxi from there to Mesr/Farahzad (which costs about 350.000 IR). Its quite the trip to get there but absolutely worth it!

The host mostly left us to ourselves, which can be an advantage but sometimes gave us the feeling that we weren't really welcome. But as long as you make your own plans the stay is an unforgettable experience. Very, very recommended.

Lodge traditionnel

PaulineetJacquesBrest, France 23 September 2015

Haven’t stay there, but highly appreciate their honesty

Ian ISeoul, South Korea 20 July 2015
Checked with them if there was room availability in May, the reply from them was room was available including 3 meals a day. In addition, they reminded guests that there would be a lot of flies and mosquitoes in the village.
Missed the desert this time given the travel plan designed, but hope the guests staying there would have a wonderful time with them.
